Wraps & Pitas
The Shawarma Wrap Joliet Eats With One Hand
Our shawarma wrap is the bowl you can carry. Meat carved off the spit, a spread, three toppings and our house sauce, rolled tight at 1522 Route 59 in Joliet.

What goes in a shawarma wrap at AMBA?
Same kitchen, same line, same ingredients as our bowls. You pick a filling, a spread, three toppings and a sauce, and we roll it up in front of you. The meat comes straight off the spit, the produce is chopped that morning, and the sauces are made in house.
Shawarma is meat stacked on a vertical spit and roasted slowly, then shaved off in thin slices. That is what goes in your wrap. Ask for a taste of any meat before you commit. We would rather you try it than guess.
- Start: falafel or roasted vegetables, both vegetarian
- Or go meat: chicken shawarma, gyro or steak shawarma
- Spread: classic hummus, roasted red pepper hummus, baba ghanouj (smoky roasted eggplant) or spicy feta
- Three toppings: sumac onions, pickled turnips, tomato and cucumber salad, red cabbage slaw, kalamata olives and more
- House sauce: tahini, toum, tzatziki, harissa or amba
Wrap or pita: which one should you get?
People ask us this every week. Short answer: the filling is the same, the bread changes how it eats. A wrap is rolled, so every bite has a little of everything. A pita is a pocket, so it holds a lot and gets a little messy in the best way.
Not in the mood for bread at all? Build the same thing as a bowl on saffron turmeric rice or greens. See how bowls work.
Sauces, explained in plain English
Toum is a whipped Lebanese garlic sauce. It is strong, it is fluffy, and it is the classic partner for chicken shawarma. Tahini is a nutty sesame sauce that loves falafel. Tzatziki is cool yogurt and cucumber, the gyro’s best friend. Harissa brings the heat. Amba is a tangy mango sauce, and yes, it is where our name comes from.

Prices and the combo upgrade
Signature wraps and pitas start at $11 with falafel or roasted vegetables. Chicken is +$2, gyro is +$2 and steak is +$3. Make it a meal for +$6 with fresh-cut fries or baklava plus a drink. Guests rave about the ginger mint lemonade. Prices are from our in-store menu and can change.
What to pair with your wrap
A wrap is a meal, but it is a better one with a side. Phoenician fries are tossed in sumac, a tart, lemony red spice, and come with garlic dip for $5. Greek fries get olive oil, seasoning and feta for $6. Falafel bites, 6 for $6, are a good add if you are splitting.
Want a dip on the side for the fries? Hummus or baba ghanouj with pita crisps is $8, or add an extra dip to your order for +$2. Finish with honey walnut baklava at $3.50 a piece. Prices are from our in-store menu and can change.
Eating in the car? Ask us to wrap it extra tight and put the sauce on the side. We do it all day.

Good questions
Asked at the counter.
What is the difference between a shawarma wrap and a gyro?
Both are thin slices of seasoned meat in bread. Shawarma is the Middle Eastern style, and we pair chicken shawarma with toum or tahini. Gyro is the Greek style and usually goes with tzatziki. We carry both, so ask for a taste and decide.
Do you have vegetarian wraps?
Yes. The falafel wrap and the roasted vegetable wrap are both vegetarian, and both are the $11 base price. Pair falafel with hummus and tahini for a classic combo.
Can I get a shawarma wrap for pickup in Joliet?
Yes. Order on our online pickup page and grab it at 1522 Illinois Rte 59. You can also get delivery through DoorDash or Uber Eats.
Can I swap the sauce or get it extra spicy?
Of course. It is built in front of you, so say the word. Harissa and spicy feta both bring heat. Extra sauce is +$1.
Is a wrap or a bowl bigger?
They are built from the same ingredients, so it comes down to how you like to eat. A bowl has a full base of rice, bulgur or greens under everything. A wrap trades the base for bread and is easier to eat on the go.
